Bishop Robert J. Carlson

Bishop Robert J. Carlson launched FAITH Saginaw in January 2007 as a major outreach and evangelization effort of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw. A native of Minneapolis, Minn., he was ordained to the priesthood on May 23, 1970 for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. He was later ordained as an auxiliary bihsop from his home archdiocese of January 11, 1984 and went on to serve as Bishop of Sioux Falls, S.D. from 1994 to 2004. Pope John Paul II appointed him to Saginaw in December 2004 and on February 24, 2005, Bishop Carlson was formally installed as fifth bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw.

Matt Treadwell

Matt Treadwell is a native of Flint, Mich., and a convert to the Catholic faith. He entered the church in 2002 at St. John Student Parish in East Lansing, Mich., while he was an undergraduate student at Michigan State Univerity. Matt earned his bachelor's degree for journalism from MSU in 2003. In addition to his duties with FAITH Saginaw, Matt serves as communications director for the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw. He his married and has one son. His family resides in Essexville, Mich., where they are members of St. John the Evangelist Parish.

Dr. Ed Hogan
Theology 101

Dr. Ed Hogan holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and philosophy and his doctorate in systematic theology from Boston College. He was born in Trenton, N.J., attended grade school in Green Bay, Wisc., was enrolled in high school in Scranton, Pa. Before moving to Saginaw, he called Omaha, Neb. home. "Heaven is home," he said. "I'm on pilgrimage everywhere else." Ed and his wife, Jen, have been married since 1992 and have five children. He is the director of deacon formation and diocesan theologian for the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw.

Father Robert Byrne
Last Word

Father Robert Byrne is the pastor of Blessed Trinity Parish in Frankenmuth, Mich., and serves as the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw's moral theologian. He is a native of St. Michael Parish in Maple Grove, Mich., and was ordained to the priesthood on July 20, 1975 at his home parish by Bishop Francis F. Reh, third bishop of Saginaw.
